Dr. Freddie Chow, Senior Partner

Dr. Freddie Chow, Senior PartnerDr. Chow received both his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Doctor of Optometry (Dean's Honours) degrees from the University of Waterloo. He is the founder of the Eyes On Optometry Group and is a senior partner. He is also the co-founder of CFC Optical Labs Inc, which is currently the only optical laboratory that manufactures and coats all its lenses in Nova Scotia. Dr. Chow has previously served on the Public Visual Welfare Committee and was Chair of the Annual General Meeting planning committee as part of the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists. He is actively involved with the Canadian Examiners in Optometry, which administers the national board exams. Dr. Chow is also a consultant to several industry partners and has lectured to Optometrists, Pharmacists and Family Physicians across Canada. He is also a Part-Time Clinical Associate with the University of Waterloo School of Optometry.

 


Dr. Carol Doman, Senior Partner

Dr. Carol Doman, Senior PartnerDr. Doman received both her Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Doctor of Optometry (Dean's Honours) degrees from the University of Waterloo. She is a senior partner in the Eyes On Optometry Group and co-founder of CFC Optical Labs Inc. Dr. Doman is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists. She has served as President, Past-President and Secretary-Treasurer for the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists as well as having represented Nova Scotia on the National Public Education Committee. Currently she serves as an expert for ‘Ask a Doctor of Optometry’ online community outreach program and has made numerous appearances on Live at 5 and Breakfast Television promoting eye health awareness.

 


Dr. Victoria French, Partner

Dr. Victoria French, PartnerDr. French is originally from St. John's, Newfoundland. She received her Bachelor of Science degree (Biology) from Memorial University in 2002 before completing on her Doctor of Optometry degree, with honours, from the University of Waterloo in 2007. As part of her training, Dr. French completed and internship at the Vision America Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as a Specialty Contact Lens course at the Johnson and Johnson facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. French began practicing optometry in Halifax in 2007 and joined the Eyes on Optometry Group shortly after in 2008. She is an active member of both the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists. She has previously served as Chair of the Public Education Committee as well as the Canadian Optometric Education Trust Fund (COETF) Committee. Dr French is an avid promoter of eye health and looks forward to developing relationships with both new and existing patients.

Outside of the office Dr. French enjoys the outdoors and can often be found running, hiking or rock climbing throughout the province.

 


Dr. Julie Maillet, Partner

Dr. Julie Maillet, PartnerDr. Maillet received her Bachelor of Science (Dean's Honours) from Mount Allison University. She proceeded to complete her Doctor of Optometry (Dean's Honours) degree from the University of Waterloo. As part of her training, Dr. Maillet interned at the Houston Eye Associates in Houston, Texas, as well as with Anstice & Associates in Christchurch, New Zealand. She also completed a Specialty Contact Lens course at the Johnson & Johnson facility in Jacksonville, Florida. She is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists. She serves on the Newsletter Committee for the provincial association. Outside of work, Dr. Maillet is a committed volunteer for the Nova Scotia SPCA. In 2015, she received a Golden Paw award for volunteerism.
